The Disciples, born in Pittsburgh, have had the music in their souls all their lives. They have been puttin' out tasty grooves ever since their days at Schiller Classical Academy on the North Side of the big city. Starting out with a bass and guitar, they tamed their instruments quickly, and were able to start busting out jams of immense size by the beginning of 7th grade. At this time, they were deemed "The Shaft & Barry White Fan Club," with such hits as: "Jackson 5 Living in a Car," "Bitch Card," "Bad Juju Fruit" and many more! As they matured musically they later got into drugs and Hare Krishna, and expiremented with such extravagent mediums as sampling, syntehsizers, and drum machines. Just before they changed to the Disciples, they released a ground-breaking album, "Batman and Robin Use Safe Prophylactics." It contained re-recorded versions of the previously unreleased hits written back in those early days: "Fu Chu Man," "The Paul Song," "Monkies Ain't Crass," and "Rudebegas." With the new name of the Disciples also came the use of real percussion. They released two re-defining EPs entitled "Pimento Loaf Christmas" and "We Kick Ass." They include the hits: "Jack in the Box," "Theme Park," "Acid Jazz," "We Kick Ass," "Chemistry 101," "Fat Woman on a Bike," and "Hot Summer Day." With the advent of the new year, so comes the advent of the Disciples' first double-tape set, "20 Years of the Disciples." It showcases their many hits that have become synonymous with the name "Disciples," with over 50 songs gracing the ears of not only members of the hallowed Song-of-the-Week Club, but anyone who will take the responsibility of giving them a listen! SO BUY BUY BUY!!!!
